KAJIAN ETNOMATEMATIKA PADA CANDI SAMBISARI DAN IMPLEMENTASI DALAM PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR MATERI BANGUN DATAR SMP

Artikel ini mengkaji potensi pemanfaatan Candi Sambisari dalam pengembangan materi bangun datar bagi siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) melalui pendekatan etnomatematika. Candi Sambisari sebagai situs peninggalan sejarah memberikan peluang penting untuk mengintegrasikan matematika dengan konteks budaya dan sosialnya. Penelitian ini menerapkan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif eksploratif dengan pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi aktivitas dasar matematika seperti counting, measuring, locating, designing, playing, dan explaining. Selain itu juga ditemukan berbagai bangun datar seperti persegi, persegi panjang, trapesium, segitiga siku-siku, segitiga sama kaki, dan lingkaran pada struktur candi. Penelitian ini memperkaya pemahaman siswa terhadap matematika dengan menghubungkan warisan budaya lokal dan memberikan wawasan tentang sejarah dan makna candi. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat mendukung pengembangan bahan ajar yang lebih berbasis konteks dan budaya pada materi pembelajaran sekolah menengah, meningkatkan minat siswa dalam belajar matematika, dan mendorong pelestarian warisan budaya.

ABSTRACT
This article examines the potential utilization of Sambisari Temple in the development of 2D geometry shape for Junior High School (JHS) students through an ethnomathematics approach. Sambisari Temple as a historical heritage site provides an important opportunity to integrate mathematics with its cultural and social context. This research applied an explorative descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results identified basic math activities such as counting, measuring, locating, designing, playing, and explaining. In addition, various flat shapes such as square, rectangle, trapezoid, right triangle, isosceles triangle, and circle were found in the temple structure. This research enriches students' understanding of mathematics by connecting local cultural heritage and providing insight into the history and meaning of temples. The results of this study are expected to support the development of more context- and culture-based teaching materials in secondary school learning materials, increase students' interest in learning mathematics, and encourage the preservation of cultural heritage.
