PENGARUH MEDIA GEOGEBRA TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN KONSEP MATEMATIS SISWA PADA MATERI FUNGSI KOMPOSISI DI SMK SJAKHYAKIRTI

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using GeoGebra on students' ability to understand mathematical concepts, specifically regarding the topic of composite functions at SMK Sjakhyakirti Palembang. The primary issue addressed in this research is the students' low level of understanding of composite functions, compounded by a lack of interactive learning media that supports the visualization of the subject matter. A quantitative method with a quasi-experimental approach—utilizing a Nonequivalent Control Group design—was employed. The study involved two eleventh-grade classes: an experimental group that used GeoGebra and a control group that received conventional instruction. Purposive sampling was used to select the participants. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments consisting of essay-type questions. The data were analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics, including tests for normality, homogeneity, and hypothesis testing via an Independent Sample t-test. The analysis results indicate that students who learned using GeoGebra demonstrated a greater improvement in their understanding of mathematical concepts compared to those who did not. This is supported by the t-test results, which show a calculated t-value (4.956) greater than the critical t-value (2.018). Consequently, the use of GeoGebra has been shown to have a positive impact and serves as an effective learning tool for the topic of composite functions.
